Widgets display live information from their associated apps. A weather widget, for example, will display the current temperature and weather conditions for your location without you having to open the weather app. Common widgets include those that display breaking news, recent email messages, and upcoming appointments from your calendar. You can now add widgets, or stacks of widgets, to any Home Screen page.
Adding a widget to the Home Screen of your iPhone
- The easiest way to enter Edit Home Screen mode is to touch and hold an empty portion of a Home Screen background. You will know you are in edit mode when all the apps begin to jiggle, and a small black – (minus sign) appears at the top left of app buttons.
- You can also touch and hold an app button until a Quick Action menu appears, then tap Edit Home Screen to enter edit mode, or just keep holding the button until the Quick Action menu appears and then disappears.

- Tap the + (plus sign) in the top left of the screen.
- Tap the widget you want to add. If the widget has more than one size, swipe left and right to choose which size you want.
- Tap Add Widget.
- Tap Done to save changes and exit.
Smart Stacks
Smart Stacks are a collection of widgets that change according to your location, the time of day, or an activity. You add a Smart Stack using the procedure we just went through, but you can scroll through a Smart Stack on your Home Screen to see what is available and tap any of the widgets to open the associated app.
