Charging and Care of Your Apple device

Your Apple device comes with a USB cable that you can use for both charging and syncing to your computer. Your device may also come with a wall adapter, as shown in the illustration. Your charger may be different than the one shown, depending on the model you have.

Charging

Most Apple devices have a physical charging port. Some iPhones are capable of wireless charging as well.

The wall charger that came with your device can charge your Apple device at its maximum speed and has sufficient power so that you can use the Apple device while charging. If you are using a charger from a third party, make sure that the charger has sufficient power (wattage). Lower wattage chargers will take longer, and you won’t be able to use the device and charge simultaneously.

Syncing

Use the USB cable to connect the Apple device to your computer for syncing and file transfers. Some computers are also able to charge the Apple device through the USB port, but some cannot. Also, remaining connected to a laptop that is turned off might actually drain the device’s battery.

Cleaning

Apple recommends using a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth to clean the screen. Never use window cleaners, solvents, alcohol, or abrasives. The Apple device has a coating on the screen that repels oil. The coating will lose some effectiveness over time, so treat it gently.
