Getting an Apple ID

You must have an Apple ID to access the App Store, iTunes, and other Apple services. Signing up is easy and free. (You will usually create an Apple ID when you buy a device. Skip this section if you already have an Apple ID and are signed in.)

  1. Open Settings "" then tap the Sign into your iPhone just below the search bar.
  2. Tap Create New Apple ID.
  3. Fill in the required information in the forms.

If you don’t create an Apple ID now, you will be prompted to do so when you try to access the App Store or sync your device.

Any apps, books, or movies that you download, paid or free, are stored with your account for easy retrieval. This is handy for when you change or add devices! Buy an app, music, or movie once and share it with up to six family members if you activate the Family Sharing feature. Buy once and share!

Be sure to use only one Apple ID or your purchases and iCloud information will not sync between your devices.

Accounts without a credit card

You can create an account without a credit card by selecting None in the New Account section. You will need to add a credit card before you can use Apple Pay, make online purchases, create a Family Sharing Group, or create a child’s account.

Create a strong, unique password for your Apple account and protect it. Anyone with your ID and password can access your Apple account and may be able to access your personal information and make purchases using your credit card.
