Apple TV App

The Apple TV app is video entertainment central. It connects to most of the popular premium video services, your iTunes movies and rentals, and even makes recommendations on what to watch based on your past viewing habits.

Apple TV+

Apple TV+ is Apple’s own video content service. A subscription to Apple TV+ allows you to watch new, exclusive Apple Originals without ads. You can download Apple Originals on your Apple device to watch without an internet connection.

Channels

HBO, Showtime, Starz, and many more content providers are “channels” within Apple TV. You can subscribe to and pay for these premium channels within the TV app.

Rented and purchased movies

Play movies and shows in your iTunes library directly from the TV app on any of your connected devices. Tap Store to buy or rent more content from within the TV app.

Connect other apps

Connect streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Prime Video, as well as games, news, and infotainment sources to Apple TV by connecting the app to Apple TV.

Cast using AirPlay

You can play content on your device and cast it to your Apple TV, compatible speakers, or smart TV with AirPlay or mirroring.

Watch Now

Watch Now picks up where you left off watching in Up Next. Suggestions for other videos you might like are in What to Watch, Hit Movies, and more. When you tap on a movie or show, it will open in a connected app, like HBO Max (if you have an HBO subscription) or the NBC, CBS, etc. app. Tap See All to expand a category. Touch and hold a tile to remove.

Library

Library includes videos you purchased or rented from the iTunes Store and other videos you added to your iPhone from the iTunes Store.

Apple TV hardware

The TV app on your iPhone or iPad works seamlessly with Apple TV (the device you can connect to your TV shown below), and with TVs that have Apple TV built-in. Apple TV makes it easy to stream entertainment from a single app to any connected TV or Apple device.
