Compose: Opens a new blank email message.
To: Email address(es) of your desired recipients. If you are sending the message to multiple email addresses, separate them with commas.
From: Who wrote you the email. Check this carefully if you think the email could be spam.
CC: (From the old “carbon copy”) Use to copy the email to someone who might need to be aware but not a part of the conversation. Everyone can see the address of someone who is CC’d on the message.
BCC: Blind carbon copy. Sends a copy of your message to someone without letting others listed as recipients in the To or CC fields know. A BCC does not show up as a recipient to anyone other than the sender. Any competent newsletter will be sent with recipients in the BCC field to preserve the privacy of everyone on the mailing list.
Forward: Sends an email you received to someone outside of the original recipient list.
Reply: Send your reply back to the sender.
Reply All: Sends your reply back to everyone in the recipient list. You should be cautious of choosing this instead of reply. Many embarrassing emails, intended for just one recipient, have been accidentally sent to everyone in the email chain.
Attachments: Adds a file or files (documents, images, spreadsheets, etc.) to your email as attached files.
Insert: Inserts a file or image into the text or body of your email.
Link: Adds a URL web link to text or image contained in the body of your email.
Emoji: Adds cute little pictures that express emotions to your message.
Confidential mode
(Gmail): Sends an email that cannot be forwarded, copied, printed, or downloaded. Messages sent in confidential mode can be set to expire, and the sender can remove access at any time. You can also require an SMS passcode to open messages sent in confidential mode.
