Google Account Recovery
If you forget your password or if you are hacked, you will lose access to your Google account, including emails, documents, and photos. This can be disastrous! Plan ahead and set up a recovery email address and phone.
- Open your Google account at myaccount.google.com. You’ll need to sign in as a security precaution.
- Click Security.
- Scroll down to Account recovery options and add a recovery email, phone, and security question.
Google offers a smartphone app that makes 2-Step Verification easy. You may be asked if you want to install the app on your smartphone during the 2-Step Verification process. The app lets you tap a “Yes” button on your phone rather than type in a 6-digit code. It’s easy!
