Creating a Google Account

You must have a Google Account to get the most out of your Android device. A Google Account gives you access to all of the products and services offered by Google. If you already have an email that you use to sign in to Gmail, YouTube, Google Drive, or any other Google product, then you’re set—use that email for your Google account. As soon as you sign in with any existing account, all email, contacts, calendar, and other data associated with that account will be synced to your device. If you have multiple Google accounts, you can add all of them, and they will sync together.

Creating an account from a browser

1. Open a web browser.
2. Click in the address bar and type “google.com,” then press the Enter key.
3. Click the Sign in button at the top-right of the page.
4. If you have a Google account, type in your email and password, then click Sign in. If not, click Create an account.
5. A signup form will open. Enter the information.

Creating a new account on your Android

You can create a new Google account directly from your Android device.

1. Open Settings .
2. Select Passwords & accounts .
3. Select Add account.
4. Select Google , then Create account.

If your username is already taken

Usernames must be unique. Your preferred username may not be available. Google takes some of the guesswork out by suggesting alternative usernames based on your choice. You can add numbers or additional letters, but be cautious about adding your age or other information that may give too much personal information away.

Complete the signup process

Review the Google Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, click the box, and then click Next Step. Google will give you the option of adding a photo to your profile, but for now, just click Next step.

You created your Google account! You should now see a welcome screen with your new email address. Shortcut icons are in the upper right corner. Some icons may not display depending on the size and resolution of your screen.
