Android Messages

There is a reason texting is so popular. It’s a great way to have a short conversation or have a conversation when talking is not possible. You can text with one person or add more contacts to talk as a group. You can send pictures, videos, and emojis too. Many Android phones, including Pixel and Nexus, come with Android Messages  installed. Your phone manufacturer may have a different messaging app. The basic functions of all messaging apps are similar.

Simple text-only messages can be sent using your cellular connection. An Internet/data connection is required for sending pictures, videos, etc.

  1. Open Messages .
  2. Tap Start Chat .
  3. In the To box, begin typing a name, phone number, or email address. Messages will match what you are typing with suggestions from your Contacts. Tap a suggested contact to select them as the recipient. Tap The add more recipients button to add more recipients. You can also send a message to a phone number not in your Contacts.
  4. Type in your message.
  5. Messages will suggest emojis and GIFs (short repeating videos) that can add fun to your message.
  6. When finished whith your message, tap Send .

Reading messages

Swipe down from the top to view and tap the new message notification, or open the message within the Messages app.
