Rearranging Icons on the Android Home Screen

You can reorganize apps and widgets on your Home screens. This is very much like when you previously added the app and widgets to your Home screen:

  1. Touch and hold an icon until the shortcut menu appears, then drag the app to your desired location and release.
  2. To move an app or widget to a different screen, drag it to the edge of the current Home screen and wait for the Home screen to flip.
  3. You can drag an icon out of the favorites tray and replace it with another icon or folder.

Creating folders to organize apps

You can also easily create folders for multiple apps. This is a great way to organize lots of apps without taking up too much screen space.

  1. Touch and hold an app until the quick menu appears, then drag it on top of another icon.
  2. When a circle replaces or surrounds the lower icon, release your finger.
  3. Add more icons to the folder using the same method.
  4. Tap the folder to access any of the apps within.

Renaming folders

Newly created folders are unnamed. Name the folder you just created with a descriptive title to make it easier to locate your apps.

  1. Tap on the folder to open it.
  2. Tap Edit Name.
  3. Type in a new folder name.
  4. Tap OK.

Deleting Folders

Open the folder and drag the apps out. When the last app is removed, the folder will disappear.
