Customizing Your Android Home Screens

You can move apps and widgets to any Home screen and create folders containing multiple apps. Use these tips to organize the apps on your device so you can easily find them.

Adding apps to a Home screen

To view all the apps on your device, swipe up from the bottom quarter of any Home screen to open All Apps. Apps are listed in alphabetical order.

You can add any app to any Home screen from the All Apps view.

  1. Touch the app you wish to move and pause for the shortcuts menu, then drag slightly. Images of your Home screens will appear.
  2. Drag and drop the app to the Home screen of your choosing.

Adding widgets

A widget displays live information from the internet. Some widgets show you the weather, others might display upcoming events from your calendar. You can add widgets to any Home screen.

  1. Press a blank area of a Home screen and wait for the widgets icon  to appear.
  2. Tap  to open and view the widgets available on your device.
  3. Touch and hold a widget to select it, then drag it to a Home screen and release.

Removing apps and widgets from a Home screen

You can remove an app or widget from the Home screen without deleting it from your device.

  1. Touch and hold an app, then move it slightly after the shortcuts menu appears.
  2. Drag the app to Remove and release.

Removing an app or widget only removes the icon from the Home screen. You can still find the app on the All Apps page.
