Today View
Today View is a screen you can customize with widgets that help you plan and manage your daily activities. You can customize the Today View to display upcoming events in your calendar, the weather forecast, current traffic conditions, breaking news stories, recent messages, and current and upcoming information from other widgets that you select to display.
A widget displays real-time information from an app without having to open the app. Not all apps have a widget option, but you must first install an app to use its widget.
You can access the Today View by swiping right from the main Home screen or Lock screen. Scroll down to view more widgets. You can make the Today View accessible when your iPhone is locked by turning it on in Settings 
> Face ID & Passcode (or Touch ID & Passcode) > Today View.
The Today View looks something like the screenshot image below. The Smart Stack groups widgets in a stack you can easily scroll through.
Adding widgets to the Today View
- Scroll to the bottom of the Today View and tap Edit .
- In the top left corner, tap the Add Widget button
. - Scroll down to view the widgets available on your device. Or, use the Search box to find desired widgets.
- Tap a widget to open a dialog to choose widget size and options if necessary.
- Tap Add Widget when finished.
